Archives for category: Project Life

Hey there readers! I’m back to share another project life spread finally! I have had my week 14 spread done for a little bit now, however, due to rainy weather and terrible lighting I couldn’t get a decent photo of it to share for the life of me!

I am still absolutely crazy about this project.

Here is my week 14 spread:

Week of: April 1 through April 7

Pretty sports themed this week. I had the pleasure of attending 2 playoff hockey games. It was my first time going to a hockey game and I have to say that I am hooked! It was so much fun! Also this was the week that I did headshots with my friend, so I included that in my spread as well.

I cut a 12×12 WRMK page protector down to a 6×12 to include an insert into my spread. Here is a look at the contents:

Lots of bits from my Studio Calico project life kit. I really loved that striped envelope. Inside I put our extra game tickets. I messy-clipped other tickets, an instax photo, and the confetti that dropped after the Mavericks won from the game to the front of the envelope. On the back, I included the stadium booklet that included their season schedule and seating. I just adore that “High 5” stamp by Hello, Forever that was a part of the Studio Calico kit.

This “win” badge from the kit was so fitting! Not only did the Mavericks win, but orange is one of their team colors. I love when things like this come together so nicely.

Another couple close ups of that envelope pocket with the memorabilia.

I added a date stamp and a little enamel dot to spruce up my Glitz design card.

I really love this quote card from the kit. It is also by Glitz Design I believe. I added in a banner that I printed and cut with my silhouette and wrote the week number with a white gel pen at the bottom for a quick “title card.”

Phew, I didn’t realize I took so many pictures from this spread. I guess with the icky weather we’ve been having, I went overboard just in case I don’t get another chance to retake them anytime soon. And so that concluded another spread for my album! 14 weeks down 38 to go! How is yours coming along?

Chuggin’ right along. Just a few more weeks and I will be all caught up! I really loved putting together week 13’s spread, with it being a holiday week. I wanted to keep with my theme from my last spread by adding lots of color. It was really easy to do this and keep it all tied together because my pictures from the week had the same feel.

week 13-2

week 13-3

Week of: March 25- March 31

Details I love this week:

  1. My week title card. I am loving this stamp from Hero Arts + Studio Calico. I cannot believe this was my first time using it.

  2. I paired this embossing powder + my dymo to make the perfect combination of simple and bold at the same time.
  3. Love using the digital banner that was from this template by Ali Edwards directly on photos before I print.
  4. More October Afternoon letters from last week + memorabilia  from a date and Studio Calico kit bits paper clipped together.
  5. CONFETTI POCKET! Used this punch. It is currently on sale at Two Peas!
  6. Odd and End silhouette cuts left in a box from another project.
  7. Pink enamel dots EVERYWHERE! Going to have to restock soon I think.

week 13 insert2

Added in my last 30 Days of Lists insert!

week 13 details1

week 13 photo insert

I had additional photos I wanted to include from Easter. I took a We Are Memory Keepers 12×12 divided page protector and carefully cut it down to a 6×12 to include this insert. This is just what I had on hand, they make 6×12 protectors already sized down.

That concludes another spread! Glad you stopped by! I’m off to finish catching up the rest!

This week I spent a good amount of time catching up my project life album. You know, fillin’ in the holes I had been putting off. With the arrival of my April Project Life kit, I finally got the motivation to finish it up. I am almost all caught up. I just have to add some finishing touches to week 13.

In my week 10 post, I hadn’t completed my 30 days of lists insert yet. Here is a look at it all finished up.

Week 10 insert

I kept my insert pretty simple and stuck to the same design as the first one. I am loving the look of the Hero Arts background stamp paired with embossing powder.

And now for the spreads.

Here is a look at the whole spread, with the inserts in place. I had 2 inserts for this one. 1 for a quilting project I started(Snap protector), and 1 for my 30 lists project(baseball card protector).

Week 11-12 LO-1

Here is a look without the inserts. I really love how bright this one turned out!

Week 11-12 LO-5

Week 11-12 LO-2

Week 11-12 LO-4

Week 11-12 LO-3

Weeks of: March 11 to March 24. I didn’t have too much going on around this time so I could fit 2 weeks into one spread again. It really feels nice knowing I can alternate between time frames to fit my needs.

Favorite little details:

  1. My dymo label maker is my best friend! I love the bold, yet simple, feel it gives.
  2. Lots of colorful details. October afternoon letters, washi tape, enamel dots, glitter thickers.
  3. More of my wood chips with embossing.
  4. OH that april kit!! In love with those minty-teal cards. I only wish I had more!

I think this is probably one of my favorite spreads ever. Here are a few shots of the details.

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for takin’ a look! Be sure to link your projects up to The Mom Creative’s Project Life Tuesday’s Posts! I love seeing other’s work so feel free to link me to your projects in the comments as well!

Today I thought I would share a few things that are going on around here currently. Over the weekend Valerie, a dear friend of mine, and I went out exploring the town to take some awesome head shots of one another. We had so much fun! Constantly laughing. Valerie is an amazing photographer. She has such a great eye. Here are a few I thought I would share with you.

In the works

I thought I would start a little something called “In the Works”. In these posts, I will just share a little bit about the projects that I am currently working on along with a little shot of what’s on my scrapbook desk right now.

work desk-dateables-2

Working on week 14 of my project life. (I might have skipped a little) Still crazy about my embossing powder. Thinking I need to go pick up a few more today.

I read a recent post at A Beautiful Mess on my feedly reader the other day that got me thinking about my project goals. There were several occasions over winter that I said “I am going to get [this] done this spring/summer!” After reading Elsie’s post I came to the conclusion that I should make a list of my own Spring and Summer project goals. Mostly because I am an obsessive list-maker. But also because I know that if I make it a goal in writing, I am more likely to actually plan and accomplish it. Here are my project goals for the coming seasons.

  1. Give my closet a facelift. I have a large walk-in closet that currently is a bit of a site for sore eyes. I am envisioning white shelving for all of my purses and shoes, baskets and bulletin style boards for my jewelry. And something for my scarves. Shower hooks+towel bar maybe? This project is also going to require a MAJOR purge. I mean really! I don’t even wear half of that stuff!
  2. Redecorate/organize scrapbook room. I mentioned a few ideas I had in another post. Lighter/airy walls+bold chalkboard wall. Stamp storage. Ribbon. The works.
  3. Places I’ve Been Project. I’ve started collecting inspiration on Pinterest for a map project I want to create in my Studio.
  4. Plant Something. Indoor herb garden? Succulents? Some sort of vegetable? Still deciding. Just want to add a little green to my thumb.

What projects are you planning in the coming months?

I received my Studio Calico Project Life kit + Today Noted stamp set by Blinks of Life in the mail Monday!! Check out her site, I am also crazy about that “Hold that thought” stamp! Officially added to my wish list. I am so excited to start playing around with my kit! So many awesome things in such a little box! 😉

project life kit-1

Only about 4 more spreads and I’m current with my 2013 album!!! That is such a good feeling. Last night I worked diligently to edit and select my photos for week 14!! That will mean I will have everything I need to put together my remaining spreads so far!

Week10-3Week of: March 4- March 10 (Enough for a week to have it’s own spread again!)

Details I Love this week:

  1. Label + Dymo week # combination. Super simple.
  2. More of those wood circles I threw together. Tutorial soon.
  3. New bright embossing powders + “NewsFlash” stamp(from another SC Project Life kit) multiple times.
  4. Typing directly on photos before printing!
  5. Loving the circle picture on plain white card + typed journaling.
  6. Screen shot taken of the insane number of “junk” emails I receive from various places. (on the to do list)

week 10

Technically I am still missing my 30 days of Lists insert, however, I will have to add a picture of that to the next Project Life post. It will look very similar to week 9’s. I am keeping them very simple in design, with minimal embellishing.

This week I plan on sharing: (In no particular order)

  1. More project life posts
  2. More layouts for my niece’s album
  3. My favorite fonts + my new font reference method (this one is a bit more complete than my framed method I have currently)
  4. Some head shots my friend and I did for one another
  5. My spring/summer project goals

It should be a pretty full week of a variety of things!

And that wraps up another spread! Thanks for stopping by! Hope you’ll stop back by soon!

I caught up completely to week 9 and things are feeling good.

When I say I am caught up “completely”, this means that all the pockets are filled, pictures in, and embellishments added. With my pictures, I am caught up to week 13. I have most pictures added, some journaling cards complete, I am just waiting to decide which fillers to use. Oh, and adding in my lists for that week. Something about the task of printing those up on cards and filling them in seems so dreadful. Honestly, I have the file set up even and it doesn’t even take that long….meh. Tomorrow maybe 😉

Enough of my chit chat. Here is the spread!!

Week of: February 25- March 3. I had enough to add this week to take up a 2 page spread for one week!

Favorite details from this spread:

  1. Included a get well card I received in the mail this week. I just punched holes in the card and inserted it directly into the binder rings. I included the envelope as well. I think it’s super special to include these kind of things. Especially when their hand written details are added.
  2. A second insert using baseball card protectors from Wal-Mart. This one includes my list from this week. I am following 30 days of lists very loosely. I am in love with the concept, however, if I am not feeling inspired by a prompt I simply make up my own that will share a detail I want remembered about my life now.
  3. Did a lot of online shopping this week. (This was the week after cutting my leg open and I was instructed to stay off of my feet.) Boredom gets expensive! 😉 I included some of the shipping receipts etc to my spread.
  4. Included a screen shot of a text conversation I had. I was particularly random and chatty that day. Wanted to document this odd quirk about me.
  5. Included my fortunes from a lunch date. That silverware stamp is one of my favorites! Especially with embossing powder!
  6. Loving both embossing powder and dymo labels this week! Will share in a later post sometime how I created my homemade wood circles inspired by Monica Tous.
  7. Put a quote directly over a picture with the help of some vellum to make it stand out. This is one of my favorite techniques!
  8. Layered together that fun month card signaling the beginning of a new month! Used a free download from Finding Nana, Maggie Holmes for Crate “3”, and some twine and washi for good measure 🙂

PLweek9-2 PLWeek9 PLweek9-3

Almost current with my posts for this year’s album! …Well about halfway anyways 😉

Week7&8 full 1

Weeks of: February 11-February 24 (another 2 weeker)

… and of course another little Snap insert housing some stuff from Valentine’s Day.

Week7&8 left

Week7&8 right

(I apologize for the graphic stitches picture… if you think that’s bad, you should see the one tucked underneath it. Still makes me slightly queasy!)

Favorite Details from this week:

  1. Included a piece from my studio calico shipping box with their logo. Love the kraft and chevron on this!
  2. Loved including the box off of my packaging shipped from Femme Fitale lifting gloves on the outside of the pocket. (Thanking the boyfriend for that gift every single workout!) Also the care card and some heart confetti into the back of the insert.
  3. Also slipped in tags from my other Valentine’s Day gifts from him.
  4. Embossing with stamps+dymo label maker(“happy” stamp and workout label)
  5. A layout isn’t complete without some bits from a Studio Calico kit!
  6. Included a vellum baby shower invite I made for a friend. (The invite is all vellum stitched together+butterfly confetti, the colorful arrows is just paper behind it)
  7. Made a card from a copy of my font reference print. (More on that print in another post coming soon!)
  8. An instax photo of me! Really need to remember to use that camera more often! The photos are tons of fun and perfect for the pockets!

And that my friends, completes another 2 weeks of 2013! I’ll leave you with a few close up details of the spread! Have a delightful day!

Another one bites the dust. And another one bites…and ano…yeah you get the point.

Details I Love:

That ampersand card

Stitching across letter sticker title “Early Spring”

Including memorabilia (credit voucher from the casino) This is one of my favorite parts about this format!

PLweek5&6 insert

Yup, another insert this week. Still loving the variety.

Getting A LOT of use from that Simple Stories Snap collection. Perfection! (Insert protectors, numerous labels, letter stickers)

That completes another spread from my album!

And before I let ya go, thought I’d share a few pictures from Easter because I’m overly thrilled with how far my photography has come since taking Maggie’s class! (I may or may not have ended up with over 350 pictures from the day! And instead of having trouble finding a good one in the mix, it was hard narrowing down to my favorites!) My nieces and nephews were of course the center of my attention 😉

I would love to see your projects! Link me up in the comments! Have a wonderful day! Thanks for swinging by!

project-life-titlesAnother look in my Project Life album. Another one of those “2 weeks per spread” layouts + another insert. (I’m slightly obsessed with these things.) I really love the interest the various sizes add to my album.

Weeks of: January 14- January 27

It was Kori’s first birthday party this week. (Kori is my niece.) I had several pictures from the party. Also, I started my Photography 101 class with Maggie Holmes around this time. So I included several pictures from my assignments. (The top left of my niece and the one next to it of my dog.)

Few Favorite Details:

Several cards from the Studio Calico Project Life kit.

Stacked and stitched on some label flags directly on top of a picture.

Just added a small journal block to the back of my wood “&” card from last week and left the rest showing.

Silhouette cuts making a 4×6 filler card.

Sequins floating around in the birthday insert.

Included the birthday invitation I designed for her party.

Here’s a look at the spread with the insert flipped. Wrote directly onto the white space of a picture of my blown tire. Below are a few close ups of some details.

Glad you stopped by! Be sure to check back in with me soon for more Project Life posts!

Last fall I started feeling the Project Life itch coming on again. I was seeing it everywhere I looked on my favorite blogs and online shop sites. I caught myself on numerous occasions thinking, “Oh this would be awesome for my Project Life album.”

My only set back was that in 2012, when life got “busy”, my album got put on the back burner. At first it was just the layouts I got behind on. I figured, “I can always just go put it all together later when I have time.” I still jotted notes of my days and took plenty of pictures. Then, a month later, it all hit the back burner. I still took some pictures, but not as many. As for keeping track of dates and jotting down the little things?!…..yeah…..about that.

I knew that if I was going to take on this massive[ awesome] project again in 2013, I was going to have to do some serious research. I was going to have to be completely prepared with a system that was going to work the best for me. Being the tech junkie that I am, my first concern was finding apps that would help me out.

My phone, which never EVER leaves my side, is an android. I also own an iPad that gets a lot of use. I will be mentioning apps that I’ve found useful for both.

Apps available on both devices

  1. Evernote (free):

This is by far my most used app for PL. It’s available for both android and iPhone/iPad, and furthermore it syncs the notes across all devices so you can access them virtually anywhere.

Evernote is a family of products whose primary purpose is to save information in note-taking format. The app allows you to create individual notebooks to organize the different types of information you save. You can also group notebook into “stacks”, or categories. For instance my PL notes are labeled in a stack called Project Life 2013. The individual notebooks are titled by week number. You can also attach pictures to your notes as well.

Each day I create a new note titled with the date into the corresponding notebook. I quickly jot notes throughout the day into the document and attach any pictures I take with my phone. I make note of any pictures I take any other way (ie my big girl camera) and any bits I collect throughout the day, such as business cards. I could technically access my account and notes from the website using my computer and attach pictures into my note from my desktop as well. However, that just seems like an extra step to me.

The only downfall that I have found so far is that you are limited to a certain amount of GB on the free version. You must upgrade to premium to receive 1 GB of space per month. ($4.99 per month or $45 per year) Although, I have been using this app for 3 weeks of daily notes, as well as blog, business, and life stuff, and I am not out of room yet. (I have a total of 36 notes, many of which contain multiple images.)

I definitely recommend this app, I even use it for daily reminders as well (to do lists, blog ideas, grocery lists, etc.) There is also a corresponding app that organizes your notes by creation date onto a calendar called EverCalendar (also free)

2. Dropbox (free):

This is another must have app. Dropbox is an application that allows you to exchange/share files across multiple devices and computers. It is available for both android and iPhone/iPad, as well as your computer. I use this app to quickly transfer my phone photos to my computer for editing and printing. I also have it loaded on my iPad so I can share photos from all 3 devices to use with different apps and planning layouts.

3. Oh Life! (free):

This one isn’t exactly an app. It’s an email based website that will email you reminders to journal about your day. You can set your account up to email you at a certain time of day. In order to save your notes to the site in your account, you simply reply your response to the reminder email that is sent to you. Your notes are then saved and can be viewed on their site. You can also attach pictures to the reply to save with your journal. If you are the type that tends to forget to jot things down about the day, this service could be beneficial to you. I don’t technically use it the way it is intended. I do not reply to my reminder. It is nice to receive the email each evening in case I forgot to write something down, though. I would then turn to my Evernote app to document my day.

Android Apps:

Ok. I’ll admit…there aren’t very many good apps for android users. Apart from the ones listed above, I don’t really use much else. I will talk briefly about a few I have seen or used.

1. Photo Grid (free):

This app allows you to take your pictures and create a mini collage out of them. The pictures can then be saved and either printed for PL, or as I often do, uploaded to Instagram.

2. 365 Photo (free):

Geared more towards Project 365 followers, this app organizes your photos by date into a calendar view. This can be helpful to check dates on photos for Project Life.  You can also easily see which days you have pictures for and which you do not. The downfall to this app, that pushed me to dismiss it, is that you must either take your daily photo in the app’s camera or upload the photo from your gallery manually to each day. Kind of a pain.

iPhone/iPad Apps:

1. Momento ($2.99):

This app is well worth the price! Especially if you are a big social media user. This app’s primary function is for journaling about your day. It allows you to write notes about your day in an easy to see format. You can also upload pictures into your daily notes. These functions are much like any other note-taking/journaling app. What sets Momento apart is that you can sync it to pull information from your social media updates. Many popular feeds are included, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The app automatically attaches your updates from these sites, including pictures, to your daily journal. This makes it very easy to add in filler information in weeks that you might not have many pictures or stories for. It can also help you jog your memory on dates if you forget to write something down, however posted a picture or status about it.

2. Typic Pro ($1.99):

Another app that cost a little bit to download. I haven’t actually used this app yet, however, it was recommended on a Two Peas Forum I started about PL apps awhile ago, while preparing for this post. I have looked into the app and agree that it looks pretty cool. I just haven’t taken the time yet to purchase it and give it a go.

This app allows you to add text and design elements to your photos. It has some pretty trendy designs. It is definitely worth considering.

3. PicTapGo ($1.99):

One last must have app. PicTapGo is a photo editing app designed by the creaters of Totally Rad! Inc. It works similar to Rad Lab Photoshop Actions. The filters and actions included in this app are delightful. It even starts to remember your most used actions and combinations and conveniently saves them for you! I definitely recommend purchasing this one and joining in on all of the photo editing fun!

This completes my overview of my Project Life app choices. I hope you found something helpful in midst this long post! If you know and recommend any others that are not included on the list, do, please, either comment to this post or email me at and let me know! I would love to check them out and possibly add them to the list!

Until next time, toodles! (Do people even still say that?!  meh. Oh Well)
